That

With very sad hearts, we regret to report that our beloved That passed away on January 17, 2009.

He was surrounded by those who love him.

That was a horse with an amazing heart. He absolutely loved to jump. He was an enthusiastic horse and he never refused a jump. Even the chance to do trot poles would put and added spring in his step. He was also a great mount for beginner or intermediate riders and could really help a rider progress.

During the past year, as age begin to take its toll on his body, That had to slow down his activity level, but his age never had an effect on his heart and spirit. That loved his job as a school horse and was always careful with his rider.

That's outstanding personality is why he was loved by so many HGEC students. There are very few horses who have all of the great qualities that That had all in one handsome package.

That was one of the first school horses purchased by Lynn when she started Hunter Green Equestrian Centre. This and That were saved from sub standard living conditions and brought to Hunter Green.

When Lynn purchased This and That no one knew their real names. Researching That's lip tattoo did not provide us with an answer. We can guess that he raced as a young horse and some have told us that they recognize him from the show circuit as well.

That also loved his mares. Perhaps he was even a stud in his younger years. That had his own group of mares in our Hunter Green herd. Niall's was That's best mare. We know she misses him as much as we do.

That was amongst a group of us who went for a lovely hack on New Years day. As we turned back toward the barn, we could all tell how much That was enjoying the ride. He had a spring in his step like a 3 year old.

It is unfortunate that That's body was wearing out on him because his mind was still as sharp as ever. That spent 7 years with us at Hunter Green and we are thankful for every day we had with him.

That will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

This poem was written by one of our students in Memory of That.

Rainbow Bridge

Up here
I run
Rainbow Bridge
I see
I hear
I have friends
But I'm not happy
Not just yet
For I long
To see you again
I've waited for some time
And I have heard many things
I know the time is near for us to meet again
So when we meet
I know you will say my name
And I will whinny with happiness
While my friends look on
I hear my name
It's your familiar voice
I run up to you
And I feel safe
You hug me
I know now
That our bond is true
I know that we will
Never Ever
Be parted again
Cause we now play
In Rainbow Bridge

Don't Cry for the Horses

By Brenda Riley-Seymore

Don't cry for the horses
That life has set free
A million white horses
Forever to be

Don't cry for the horses
Now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance
To a heavenly band

They were ours as a gift
But never to keep
As they close their eyes
Forever to sleep

Their spirits unbound
On silver wings they fly
A million white horses
Against the blue sky

Look up into heaven
You'll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved

Manes and tails flowing
They Gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine

Don't cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way

On silver wings they will lift us
To the warmth of the sun
When our life is over
And eternity has begun

We will jump the sun
And dance over the moon
A Ballet of horses and riders
On the winds to a heavenly tune

Do you hear that soft nicker
Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses
Love the ones that are here

Don't cry for the horses
Lift up your sad eyes
Can't you see them
As they fly by?

A million white horses
Free from hunger and pain
Their spirits set free
Until we ride again
