Summer, March Break and Christmas Camps

What a great way to spend the summer and school year breaks. Our campers enjoy a full day of activities including; riding, grooming, horsemanship, arts & crafts, as well as non-competitive basketball, soccer, and volleyball. The camp fees include home cooked BBQ lunches, beverages and healthy snacks.

Our Goal here at Hunter Green:

We strive to be the most enjoyable camp experience your child has ever had. To provide a fun and caring family atmosphere while sharing our love of horses with our campers.

The same campers are coming back year after year, often booking their weeks to match those of friends they made a camp in the previous years.

Please contact Lynn Pearson at 905-332-0840 to register!!

CAMP FEATURES

Accommodating Camp Hours;

drop off between 7:30 - 8:30 am

pick up between 4:30 - 5:30 pm

If you work 9 to 5 or 8 to 4, many camps do not provide the hours you require. If they do offer "extended" hours, an additional fee is charged. Here at Hunter Green we understand the most parents work. We offer drop off as early as 7:30 am and pick up as late as 5:30 pm

We do ask all campers to be here by 8:30 am so we can begin our daily program. Please no pickups before 4:30 pm as we are still conduction our schedule.

If late drop off or early pick up is necessary, (e.g. for doctor appointment or another urgent matter) please arrange this with us ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

No child is allowed to leave the property with anyone other than their parent or grandparent. Car pooling arrangements must be discussed with us in advance.

Note: Advanced camp "show days" will involve early arrival to allow for departure to the show and a later pickup time. Advanced camp show days are on the Wednesday of each week.

Included with camp fees;

All weeks include: food, beverages, snacks, daily riding and horsemanship.

Regular camp also includes: arts and crafts, games and noncompetitive sports such as basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Advanced Camp also includes: trailering to the horse show on the Wednesday, show entry fees and coaching fees. Education is horse show management, etiquette and more.

Note: Advanced Camp is open to HGEC students and select past students and campers who are riding at a competitive level.

Registration:

Registration must be done in person as the registration papers and liability waivers must be signed with a HGEC staff witness present. Payment in full is required at the time of registration.

Early Bird Special: Register for summer camp with payment in full, prior to March 31st and you will receive a $25.00 per week, per camper, discount!!

Please call 905-332-0840 to make an appointment for your barn tour and camp registration.

Camp Meal Features:

  • Parents get a break!! No packing a lunch, drinks and snacks. We provide this for you!
  • Campers receive a choice of two to three salads daily along with their main course.
  • We have hot dog day, hamburger day, grilled chicken with rice day, grilled cheese sandwich and cottage cheese day and Friday is a big treat with pizza day.
  • Our wide variety of snacks and desserts include; apples, oranges, pears, plums, bananas, fruit cups, pudding cups, cookies, pastries, brownies, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, honeydew melon, strawberries and more.
  • We provide bottles water, juice and pop to drink. We stay away from milk as this may not sit well in the campers' stomachs in the hot summer and with physical activity.
  • If your child has food sensitivity/allergies, we will accommodate them accordingly.

Staff to camper ratio:

We are very pleased to be able to offer an outstanding ration of one staff to every 4 campers.

Qualified Staff:

Service with a smile! All of the staff at Hunter Green have had many years experience in handling horses and ponies. As well, our councilors are all students in the Hunter Green riding program and are very familiar with the animals and the level of professionalism which is expected of them. All camp councilors are selected for their enthusiasm, love of children and horses, high energy levels as well as horsemanship, riding skills and teaching ability.

Safety:

Safety is of course a priority and every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of our campers.

We have a nice riding arena and a fully fenced sand ring to ride in. There are no more than four campers mounted at any time during regular camp (more may be mounted during advanced camp, as all advanced campers are experienced riders). All beginners are kept on lead ropes. However, riding has been deemed a "high risk" sport and all campers do ride at their own risk.

Helmet Rentals:

Helmet rental is available at Hunter Green. We have a large variety of helmet sizes on hand. Our regular rental fee if $10.00 per day is discounted for our campers, down to $5.00 per day +gst.

Riding Equipment Specials:

Hunter Green boasts a fine relationship with area tack stores. These tack shops have highly discounted "camp packages" which you may take advantage of. This information is reviewed with you at the time of registration. The packages typically include a riding helmet, half chaps, paddock boots and riding gloves.
